Ferrite Core

well the thing is can someone explain what these do??? i just recently bought a tv and was reading the manual and it said there was a ferrite core.. why would they put a seperate ferrite core and not just have it on the AC power wire already. So my question is should i go out a buy another ferrite core and stick it on my tv power cable?? and where do i get one i live in Canada. also this is my tv Edit: i misplaced my ferrite core that came with the tv

its that bulg on all the new wires. check ur ps3 charge cable that piece over the wire is a ferrite core basically any new cable u get has 1 but my AC didnt for my tv and it said it was inthe box
