Yeah, Clapton's great. Also, Pete Townshend, Jerry Garica, Jimi Hendrix, and George Harrison are all great. Who's your favorite guitarist?
Arguing who is ''best'' is simply wasting OT space. It's up to opinion who you like more.
Anyhow, my favourites are Chuck Schuldiner, Oystein Aarseth, Rune Eriksson and Jeff Hanneman. There are more, but they're amongst the top.
Antoine Dufour, definitely.
My favorite is definitely Neil Young. No one else is quite as good at evoking feeling with their playing. Page and Townshend are tied for second, I think.
Rory Gallagher.
There is no ''best,'' but here are some of my favorites:
Buckethead
Dimebag Darrell
Jimi Hendrix
Kerry King
Kirk Hammett
James Hetfield
Larry ''Ler'' Lalonde
Dave Mustaine
Jeff Hanneman
Kurt Cobain
Tony Iommi
Dave Murray
Chuck Schuldiner
Jack Owen
I'll just be quick to point out that Darrell is one of the most overrated guitarist ever. Seriously. He was good but because of his death he's been made to have been a bigger influence for music than Beethoven has been for classical music.
He's good, no doubt about it. He's also quite a character. But God, he isn't the best guitarist in time.
Can't believe I didn't include Tony Iommi in my first post, I love all his guitar works.
Imo, it's Clapton.
In Order
Slash
Eddie Van Halen
Joe Perry
Jimi Hendrix
They are all really good guitarist and in some of my favorite bands. I love Slash because of his style of play and when he was GNR they were the best band. Eddie is just an amazing guitar player same with Joe Perry. Jimi Hendrix is Jimi Hendrix, nuff said.
My Honorable Mention goes to Buckethead. He may be weird but man can he play. Plus he was with GNR on Chinese Democracy and he has some good solos on it.
Jon Schaffer and Jeff Waters.
Jani Liimatainen :), can any Sonata fan bring a pic? I'm too lazy to find one hehe.
Brian May
- Chuck Schuldiner
- Trey Azagthoth
- Jeff Loomis
- Erik Rutan
John Petrucci!!! gotta love that guy.
Jeff Beck.
Sad he gets no love here. He is incredible.
Michael Romeo and John Petrucci
