You put the lime in the coconut...
I'm a little ignorant to tell you the truth, but all of Britain's colonies were kept on a tight leash, had to pay ridiculous taxes, and many products were made unavailble because of shipping costs. Ask on Yahoo Answers, usually some guy will give you a page-long essay on whatever you're asking.
You couldn't handle the awesome.
because they were taxing us and were going to use the money to buy us more land:evil:

Bingo. American colonist had no say in british parliment but the british wanted americans to trade exclusivly with them, excluding any other country. t would have worked if americans had a place in parliment but fortunatly it didin't
It was trendy back in the day.

But wasn't the reason for the high taxes due to paying off debts incurred during the French and Indian War?
1. Taxation without Representation
2. Proclamation Line of 1763
America was pissed about not having a fair say in the taxes being imposed on them, ''Taxation Without Representation'', which, looking back, is a little rediculous, because the colonials were actually taxed much less than a citizen of Britain.

It was a moment of rash silliness. You'll see the light yet.
Taxation without representation.
/thread.....
Taxation without Representation, and there was a large growth of patriotism within the colonies. Many people were not only upset about the lack of representation, they wanted to be considered independent to an extent. That wasn't as important as taxation without representation, but it was a reason.
