';The Strangers'; what is it based on?

The movie says its based on true events but what are they? BTW this movie is scary but has no real story to it. I wanted to know more about the strangers and about what happened after, whether the lady (i think her name was Kristen) lived on, how many murders had happened that had been similar to this one(as in how many other people had the strangers killed) and what the girl stranger meant by ''It will be easier next time''';The Strangers'; what is it based on?
dumbest movie evar.... almost as bad as ice harvest';The Strangers'; what is it based on?
I went onto Wikipedia after I watched the movie, and apparently it's based off of the director having someone knock on his door late at night back when he was a kid...

I wish the movie had gone more into depth though. :?
Its not actually based on a true story. The director/writer took a bunch of stories, like one of a couple killed, and a old thing that happened to him when he was a kid and just mixed them all together to make the story for this film.

Yup, that's pretty much it. It is a pretty lame move to make that claim at the start of the film.
Yeah the strangers is basically his own variation of a murder by those people. The only truth in the movie was that there was a murder and i think the victim names are real as well
The true event that it says it is based on (very loosely based, i might ad) are the sharron tate murders by the manson family.
So many movies use this term, and they are usually just a mix of two to three completely different events and then putting them all together and calling it a true story just cause two aspects of the entire movie happened or might have happened. This reminds me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre supposedly being true, even though it was based off of a guy who had nothing to do with texas or chainsaws.

One time, I saw some strangers outside my house at around 8 pm. I sent the director my tale, and he exaggerated a bit.
I thought it was horrible that the dude shot Dennis from Its Always Sunny in Phili. Some friend, and the fact that you have a good supply of shotgun rounds and you some how can't manage to take out two girls and one guy is pretty lame. They deserved to die. But seriously, two years ago I went to work at my graveyard shift job and left my wife and daughter at home. around 11 pm that night some woman came to the door and knocked really loud. My wife goes to look out the peep whole and the woman was looking straight down at the ground so you couldn't see her face. My wife didn't answer the door, walked to the table to grab her cell phone and once she returned the woman wasn't there. A few seconds later there is a cell phone ringing outside in our backyard. My wife gives me a call and says someone is lurking around our house and I come home. By this time my wife and daughter are scared and I am pissed off. I grab a steak knife and a flashlight and walk the property looking to beat some ass. I check and every where and no one is around. The next day my neighbors asked if there was someone knocking on our door last night? Turns out there was a woman and guy that were going from house to house banging on people's doors. Don't know why they did, but we live out of town and nobody should be out at 11 pm at night banging on people's doors. Their lucky nobody shot their asses for tresspassing. I would have loved to find them in my back yard cause I was not about to listen to any excuses. So thats the closest I have come to that situation.
